Its the story of Allan "Swampy" and his beautiful but cheeky Maremma dog called Oddball.
Swampy lives on a chicken farm just out of town and close by is Middle Island. Middle Island is home to many fairy penguins but the penguins are becoming endangered due to the local foxes.
Swampy convinces local authorities to allow Oddball to protect a colony of Little Penguins on Middle Island from the wild cats and dogs. This movie explains how Oddball succeeds in his campaign and protects the fairy penguins.
My favourite part was when Oddball farted in the car, it was so funny I couldn't stop laughing.
I also did cry in the movie when I wasn't sure what had happened to Oddball and this made me feel very sad.
Ellie's Little Opinion (8 years 11months!): I enjoyed this movie. I am so glad they were able to protect the fairy penguins. I liked watching the penguins walk or is it waddle? It was so good to see them lay their eggs in the boxes so there would be more fairy penguins.
I liked that it was based on a real Australian story and that the kids had an opportunity to learn about Fairy Penguin's and how important they are to our nature.
The movie showed you what lengths people go to, to protect endangered animals but how others can also harm them for money.
My eldest liked the young girl featured as she was 9 and could relate well to her. Although my 5 year old did have a lot of questions and questions that just couldn't wait to be answered...
