The Elf on the Shelf comes with a book called The Elf on the Shelf tradition. The book tells you how the tradition started and how to preserve the Elf's magic.
It reminds the children that the Elf is always watching and will report their behaviour back to Santa.
The first important thing to do is name your Elf, we called our elf "Isabella". If you have just got yourself an Elf and are struggling with a name, check out - Elf name generator, it will provide you with lots of Xmas name options.
We are never allowed to touch the Elf as it's magic will disappear and Santa would never be able to hear the Elf again.
It is so much fun having our elf, I'm always so excited to wake up each morning to see where Isabella the Elf got up to overnight, it's so much fun!
Alyssa's Little Opinion: I love my Isabella the Elf. My dad read the book to me and I know I am not allowed to touch the Elf, but I love talking to Isabella and telling her what I am doing each day.
One morning it was really funny as I found her head sticking out of the cereal box - I just don't know how she got there!!!! Xmas is so much fun... I cannot wait for December 1 to come again.
Ellie told me how each morning the Elf would appear somewhere different and watch her in the classroom. The prospect of getting in trouble, and the Elf telling Santa, was enough for a classroom full of kids to behave. I thought I need to get one of these Elf's at home !!!!!
It has been fun moving (or should I say watching) the Elf appear in new places each day. It is hard work finding new places each day for a month so I do check out Pinterest for ideas.
