WHAT is a Num  Nom? A Num Nom is  a  small rubber toy.
Not only are they are a small rubber toy  but  Num Nom's have a unique smell, some Num Noms are  electronic, some contain lip gloss and others have  stamps.

You can create delicious smells by stacking and mixing and matching the Num Noms together. You use the  different characters to create your own unique smell. You can make a Cherry Cheesecake or maybe a Rainbow Twirl  whatever you decide, I'm sure it will smell great .

Picture
Ellie's Little Opinion (aged 10 years): I absolutely love these great cute smelling adorable Num Noms. I have heaps of Num Noms, they have  taken over my Shopkins collection.

I  like how the Num Noms make different smells, I also like how  have some are electronic so they are able to move around on the Num Nom  track.

I nearly forget to tell you, you can purchase a separate  Num Nom Go Go Cafe Playset Track. You load your electronic Num Noms onto the track which also has a donut wheel box. The Num Noms can go around the track really quickly and you can build great smelling treats.
Mum's Big Opinion: Move over Shopkins, Num Noms are the new craze here at our house.
Yes they are another rubber toy, but what I do like with these, is that the kids can be creative and create their own delicious smells.  The Num Noms have created endless hours of play with the girls creating different food combinations.
I have been asked on more than one occasion what I would like to order from the menu and instantly my request has been whipped up.

As with the Shopkins, which I always found around the house it's the same as the Num Noms but at least they leave the house smelling nice!

Picture
Sipahh straws were invented by an Aussie dad, to encourage his children to drink more milk without the sugar overload.

The Sipahh straws can be enjoyed with either cold or warm milk. It's a fun and fancy way of drinking your milk with a flavoured twist!

The Sippah straws are low in sugar with less than 1/2 teaspoon of sugar and the straw adds a new taste to your milk drink.

Over the last week we have been able to try some of the Sipahh range including flavours Lamington Dream,  Snow White Choc,  Hokey Pokey Honycomb,  Okey-Dokey Cookies & Cream,  Granny's Apple Pie, Coco-Bean Chocolate.

Picture
Alyssa's Little Opinion (6 years Old):
Each afternoon  when I get home from school, I've been trying out the different flavours of the straws.

My  favourite  flavour   is the Snow White Choc but really I have liked all the ones I've tried out so far.

I  especially   love watching the straw, as I sip the straw the beans start to disappear it's so cool!

Picture
Ellie's Little Opinion (9 years old):

It has been so  much  fun drinking out of the  straws and being able to taste test the different flavours.

I really think the names of the straws have the same exact  flavour, for example the Gingerbread really tasted like a ginger bread  biscuit.

My favourite flavours are Lamington Dream and Snow White Choc.

Picture

Mum's Big Opinion:
I like the way the Sipahh straw encourages children and adults to drink milk without the added sugar.

Both my girls are not big milk drinkers and with only  less than 1/2 teaspoon of sugar, this is a great treat for afternoon or morning tea.

I also like the way each straw is individually wrapped so there is no waste and are kept clean until they need to be used.

The straws are  affordable   and come in a variety of different flavours to suit every ones tastes buds.

Dinner on the Table   is a social enterprise, cooking and delivering  family style meals. Changing daily lives one dinner at a time. This is a direct quote from their website and I couldn't agree more.

Dinner on the Table is about helping you free up time to enable you  to do the things important to your family.   I am a working mum, with 2 girls who have after school activities, homework to complete and for me LOTS of washing & cleaning to do!

This week the pressure has been taken off with being able to grab a freshly cooked meal from Dinner on the Table out of the fridge or  freezer and simply cooking it in  the oven. I have not stressed over what we will eat for dinner or that  I am missing key ingredients to the meal I was just about to make.

What I find most special about Dinner on the Table, is that  they help families with disabilities. They give back to the community by using their own  profits  to  provide vulnerable families with  dinners for free, yes FREE. To date they have gifted 131 meals.

The Family Meat Pie

Mum's Big Opinion:
I love the idea of having the night off cooking but  not having to  grab fast food. Dinner on the Table  meals are made from scratch with premium ingredients. The meals are freshly cooked there is a  different menu each week to choose from on their website.

I ordered the freshly made Chicken Cacciatorie which was absolutely  beautiful, the chicken melted in my mouth. We then  chose from their frozen favourites menu, a Lasagne and  Meat Pie.  The Meat Pie was a big family hit which I made a quick salad to go with and the Lasagne was divine.

The best part my girls ate all the meals with no fussing. A funny moment at the dinner table  from my 9 year old was "mum what's in the meat pie?" me "That would be real meat" 9 year old "wow tastes good didn't know pies had real meat"?????

We will be back to order more  meals and have joined their weekly mail out to see what's cooking in the kitchen this week.

Alyssa's Little Opinions: (6 years old): WOW WOW WOW I loved the chicken, it was magnificent! I just kept asking for more and it smelt so good when mum got it out of the oven.
I also really liked the meat pie and the  lasagne and  I didn't complain about any of my dinners this week.
Ellie's Little Opinion: ( 9 years old) It was nice for mum not to have to cook this week and she wasn't running around crazily. Mum had more time to spend with me!
My favourite  meal was the Lasagne, I could tell it was made with love as it was so delicious I kept asking for more. I also really liked the Meat Pie  I ate it all up.

Get  the Kids Active with Milo's Champion Band and App

The iconic Australian product MILO (which was first produced in 1934!) has always prided itself on being a nutrient rich drink for active children. It has supported and promoted children being involved in sport for as long as I can remember.

MILO has now introduced for a limited time a MILO Champion Band a fitness and activity tracker which works in conjunction with the MILO Champion app (free to download to your smartphone). The bands OLED screen displays the time and date, steps taken in the day, kilojoules burned, activity timer, and more. The app allows you to track energy status, challenges and achievements over time and the parent portal provides more detailed information regarding energy balance and nutrient intake.

Little Opinion:
I love my tracker and seeing the steps I have taken. I love swiping through the band and seeing if my tracker is happy with my exercise by showing a smiley face. I like how I can challenge my friends in a step challenge. I like it when mum can see that that I have been moving a lot and she can give me an achievement award with a message.
Mum's Big Opinion:
Unlike cheaper alternatives the MILO Champion Band is affordable for the technology it uses.
The set up was super easy and intuitive that the kids could follow the instructions with ease.
It has both parent (pin required) and child portals which requires parent permission to access friend challenge requests.
The  kilojoule and meal tracker may be more suitable for the older kids but it does give parents some nutritional insights.
The clasp is a little tricky for younger fingers and may require adult help to put on.
The battery life seems to last a long time!

- Suggested for children aged 6-12 years

Learning Whilst Playing, With the Educational Literacy Software 'Ziptales'

6/1/2016

Picture
Over the past week the kids and I have been exploring the website Ziptales.

What is Ziptales? Ziptales is an online literacy “library” designed for school and home use.

Ziptales is based on the latest research about how children develop and sustain a love of reading. The Ziptales “library” was built by trained teachers with the express purpose of making reading a pleasurable and lifelong experience.

Ziptales is broken up into Developing Literacy K-2 and Extending Literacy 3-6. It's a great way of learning whilst playing.

Picture
Alyssa's Little Opinion (aged 6 years old):  My favourite part of Ziptales was the 'Easy Reading’; it was fun reading a book online. When I was reading if I got stuck on a word I turned the volume on and it helped me with the word and then I would re read the sentence.
I also really liked watching 'Happy Schools’; it was all about bullying and what to do to stop it. I also liked listening to the 'Timeless Tales' you just click the mouse and the next page reads to you!

Picture
Ellie's Little Opinion (aged 9 years): My favourite part was checking out the different activities in 'Puzzle Palace'. I played wonder word, word play, drag and drop, spelling mythical creatures and mazes. Mum said it was learning but I said it was playing!

I also liked how when I finished a set of lessons, I completed a quiz and was able to see my results at the end to see how I went and what I got right.

Picture
Mum's Big Opinion: I like how the site is divided into two sections, developing K-2 and extending 3-6. The dashboard once logged in offers a variety of choices, the dashboard gives your child the opportunity to decide what they would like to do.

It is easy to navigate around the dashboard and choose a category and then return back to the home page. There is a great option of being able to turn the speech on and off, therefore being able to read at your own pace or along with the narrator.
The narrator’s voice is clear and precise and easy for the kids to understand.

We did however have some technical difficulties being logged out in the middle of a session and not being able to complete an activity as the pictures wouldn't move. But overall we have had a very positive experience with Ziptales and the girls have really enjoyed checking out the different activities, they have even picked up the laptops without me knowing and started to 'play' on the website. The best part about the program is that it is interactive and provides a variety of resources to keep the kids interested in learning all about literacy.
