Looking for a place to keep the kids entertained and the adults can sit back enjoy  a yummy bite to eat?

  • We believe we have found the place at The Ground Keeper Cafe located at Blacktown. It is an outdoor restaurant with undercover seating area and shaded terrace.

Opened for breakfast and lunch the menu has a great selection of favourites and middle eastern dishes. The Cafe is located on the same grounds as the Blacktown showground water play park.

Picture
Ellie's Little Opinion (aged 10 years): This was a fun place to visit, I had lots of fun playing with my friends.  There was so much to do in the park and it was fun to be able to go and play whilst I was waiting for my pancakes to be cooked.  My pancakes with ice cream were  delicious  and they  looked very fancy.

Alyssa's  Little Opinion (aged 6 years): I had pancakes and a chocolate milkshake it was the best. After eating it was fun to go and play in the park there was so many things to play on. Even though I didn't have my swimmers on that day it didn't stop me from running under and playing in the water!
Mum's Big Opinion:   The cafe is spacious and located right next to the waterplay park. This is a perfect place to grab brunch / lunch and eat in or takeaway. The cafes location is a bonus as the kids can play in the park or water equipment and the adults can easily see them from the cafe.

The food and drinks were absolutely  amazing and a generous serve. I had the bacon & eggs and made my own juice and it was all  delicious.

We went during the start of spring for brunch at 10.00am the park was starting to get full and when we left at 12.30pm it was packed. I would therefore imagine during summer period it would be very busy place and best to get in early.

Key Information:
-  The cafe is open Sat-Sun 8am-4pm, Mon-Fri 9am-4pm (closed Tuesdays)
-  The cafe  is located at  49 Richmond Rd, Blacktown NSW at Blacktown Showground.
-  Plenty of parking available as you enter the park.
- Check out the current menu for breakfast and lunch (closed for dinner).

Glenorie RSL Club is located in the beautiful rural outskirts of North West Sydney. The RSL is located just off Old Northern Road behind Woolworths and has a lovely country village atmosphere.

The RSL is opened Monday to  Friday from 10.30am till late and  Saturday from 10.00am and Sunday from 11.00am.

The RSL has a fully fenced area, ample grass space and a playground, both areas are within sight of the  dining tables.

Picture
Alyssa's Little Opinion (aged 6 years old):
I really enjoyed going to the RSL for lunch. The play equipment was great and so much to choose from.  I also really liked my calamari and chips for lunch but the best part was driving the fast car game.
Mitchell's  Little Opinion (aged 6 years old):   I loved the playground , it was so much fun. I had calamari for lunch and it was really yummy and my ice cream was also extremely good. I also liked playing on the Sega car game with my cousin, we were driving very fast cars.
Picture
Ellie's Little Opinion (aged  9 years old):   This was a nice place to visit with my family. The playground was really big and liked doing cartwheels on the grass area.
I really enjoyed my lunch I ate sausages and they were the best! I hope we go back there again.
Mum's Big Opinion: There is plenty of modern seating options available. If you prefer to be outside with the kids you can sit undercover or choose a sun/shaded table close to the play equipment, there is also plenty of seats inside.
The service was very quick and the  meal sizes for both adults and kids was generous serving sizes all cooked with fresh ingredients.
It was a great size grass area, you could easily take a ball for the kids to kick around on the grass area or like our kids they were kept entertained for hours on the play equipment.

Cucina Locale a Revolving Resturant with  Ever Changing Views

We recently had a lovely relaxing lunch at Cucina Locale.

Cucina Locale is a revolving restaurant located in Sydney's west on level 5 of the Blacktown Workers Club. There are views as far west as the Blue Mountains and on a clear day you can see Sydney's CBD, including the Harbour Bridge.

A full rotation of the restaurant takes 46 minutes enabling you to take in 360 degree views. We spent just over 2 hours enjoying the site and fine food. In addition to changing views,  the menu changes every  3 months to incorporate  seasonal foods.

Picture
Ellie's Little Opinion (9 yrs):  I  went to a restaurant that goes around in a circle! It was  fun watching  as  the   view kept changing!
For lunch I ate Chicken Tenderloins with chips, my mum was so proud as I ate all my chicken up and only left some chips; the chicken was so tasty. For desert  I had  gelato, it was the best! I wish I could of had more. My favourite part of the meal was the iced water , the ice was just perfection!!!!!
Alyssa's Little Opinion (6 yrs):   I  was so surprised that the restaurant  went around in circles, at first I  thought it was very strange  but it was fun.
I enjoyed my lunch it was really nice. I ate it all up. Mum said it was real 'chicken', I said it was really tasty! The  manager was also very friendly and helped me draw an elephant. I'd like to go back again.
Picture
Mum's Big Opinion: From the moment we entered Cucina Locale we were  made to feel  very welcome by the restaurant manager Ivan.
At first glance you wouldn't think this would be a 'family friendly' restaurant. Alyssa even commented, "this must be an adult restaurant", as we passed the nice crisp white table cloths and fancy cutlery, but this thought quickly disappeared.  The manager  greeted us individually  and  helped the children  settle in and make them feel special. The manager  even taught our youngest how to  draw an elephant in 5 strokes - I've never had that service from  a restaurant  manager before.

All questions were answered very quickly and we even had a visit from the head chef to make sure everything was OK or if we could make any recommendations.
I left the restaurant  feeling so full and I really wanted to eat my last bit of gnocchi, but I just didn't have any room left. I also left feeling very welcomed and glad we  stumbled  across this lovely restaurant .

The revolving aspect definitely keeps the kids amused, but if motion is not your thing they also offer seats located near the windows.
This would be a great place to dine of an evening and see the city lights. I would  highly recommend Cucina Locale for families or couples. I can say we will be back again!
Key Information:
- Cucina Locale is located at  Blacktown Workers Club  Level 5,  55 Campbell Street  Blacktown
-  Opening hours are lunch 12.00-3.00pm and dinner  5.30pm-10.00pm

Free Kids Pizza Making at Australian Hotel Brewery

13/9/2014

Little Opinions went to check out the free kids Pizza making which is held at the Australian Hotel Brewery every Sunday from 5pm.

Ellie's Little Opinion: I enjoyed making my own pizza. I chose my own toppings - cheese, ham and tomato. It tasted great! I think that's because I made it myself.  Next time I am going to add pineapple to my pizza.

When we were waiting for the pizza to cook, which went really quickly, I liked playing on the equipment. I played hide n seek with my friends, it was so much fun. Because I ate my pizza, I also got a orange slushy that helped me cool down after all the playing.

Alyssa's Little Opinion: I really liked my pizza; it was lots of fun making it. I really didn't make much of a mess. I would like to go back again  and make another pizza.

Picture
Mum's Big Opinion: We popped along for an early Sunday dinner, and the kids enjoyed creating and making their own pizza. When the kids were not creating their pizza's, they were off enjoying themselves and playing on the indoor equipment.

I was impressed at how easy and well run the free pizza making went. There is a table set up for the kids to easily grab their favourite toppings, and when they are finished and the pizza is ready to cook, the kids receive a number that matches the number on their pizza tray, ensuring they get to eat their own creation. The pizza's were cooked in no time at all, and the kids happily sat down and ate their own pizza's. I got to enjoy my delicious burger with a glass of wine.

Picture
Little Opinions went to The Australian Hotel & Brewery to try out their free kids activities during the school holidays. Each day they have different FREE activities. The day we went it was Cup Caking making and Face Painting.

Ellie & Alyssa's Little Opinions; Ellie says " I liked it all, my favourite part was decorating the cupcakes there was different coloured icings and lollies to put on my cupcakes. My pizza was really yummy. I also liked the play equipment too as we could go to a special room and go crazy!” Alyssa says “My cup cake was yummy and I loved being painted like a butterfly. I want to go back again, I liked it so much".

Kaili & Rhys guest bloggers opinions; Rhy's says “I just loved everything, really I did! I had a fun day". Kaili says "I enjoyed making the cupcakes and being able to go back again and make a second one; I liked playing on the equipment with Ellie and having my face painted like a tiger".

Mum's Big Opinion; I wasn't sure what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised. The kids were entertained for hours, they played on the indoor play equipment, they ate up their huge meals which were only $9, they made cup cakes and even returned for seconds there was a huge variety to choose from to decorate their cakes. They had their face painted and once again went back to the play equipment and even managed to get in some colouring. This was a successful school holiday outing for both the kids and the adults. We will be back again next holidays to check out other activities, we heard the make your pizza day they had up to 200 kids!!!!

They do suggest to book ahead, we did on this occasion and our seats were central to all the activities.
