Our latest adventure was a train trip to the Hawkesbury River (we love our new Opal tap on and tap off cards) and then a short ferry ride across to the beautiful Dangar Island.
Once we arrived at Hawkesbury River and checked out the gorgeous view from the train station, we headed down to the playground where the kids could stretch their legs. The playground is enclosed so you cannot lose any little ones and they can swing, slide or climb.
After a play we headed for the boat shed to catch the ferry to Dangar Island or it could also be called a wooden boat? It was a nice quick, easy (although expensive) ride to the island.
After checking out the island we hopped back on the ferry to return to the mainland. Lunch time was nearing so we headed to the marina and ordered some fisherman's baskets. It was all nice, fresh seafood and very kid friendly. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes along the main road that you could choose from.
After lunch we went to check out the sand and water. Although it was not a hot day there where some daring kids in the water but ours stayed on the sand and built some sandcastles.
After a full day of exploring we returned to the train just before peak hour hit! This was a fun day for everyone.
Ellie's Little Opinion: I enjoyed our trip, I liked going on the ferry and seeing the big Brooklyn Bridge. I also liked exploring on the island and checking it out. You would walk down some stairs and you wouldn't know where it would lead you. I think it would be fun to live on the island as you would have to get a boat to school everyday.
Special Guest Mitchell's Little Opinion: My favourite parts of the day included tap on tap off on the train platforms, Lunch at the café eating the fish and chips, the ferry ride across to the island and eating the banana bread at the Dangar Island Café.
